Role Summary
Associate Scientist (Sample Logistics and Solutions) will be a member of the Sample Logistics and Solutions (SLS) operations within Pfizer Vaccine Research and Development. The role is responsible for receiving samples from global clinical trials according to approved protocols, tracking the chain of custody, and handling sample receipt, storage, tracking, aliquoting, distribution to testing labs, and disposal. The role requires teamwork and collaboration, with responsibilities shared as assigned by the team leader/manager.
Responsibilities
- Complete processes as detailed in Sample Logistics and Solutions Standard Operating Procedures; perform responsibilities in compliance with GXP and all regulatory requirements.
- Receive samples from clinical trial sites and enter them into an electronic database management system.
- Store and retrieve samples using manual freezers and BiOS automated freezer storage system.
- Perform manual sample aliquoting and operate the Hamilton robotic instrument for aliquoting.
- Ship samples and lab supplies to external and internal testing labs.
- Assist in the general maintenance of Hamilton robotic instruments.
- Participate in the shipment discrepancy resolution process.
- Complete documentation according to cGMP/GLP and regulatory requirements; archive documents per applicable policies.
- Carry out sample disposal/destruction according to regulated policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in a relevant scientific discipline with 0-2 years of pharmaceutical industry experience
- Required: Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Required: Ability to work in a team setting
- Preferred: Master of Science in a relevant scientific discipline
Skills
- Experience with sample receipt, tracking, and chain-of-custody documentation
- Experience with storage in manual freezers and BiOS automated storage systems, and with Hamilton robotic instruments
- Proficiency with laboratory information management systems or electronic database management systems
Education
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in a relevant scientific discipline (required)
- Master of Science in a relevant scientific discipline (preferred)
