Responsibilities:
- Provide in-depth characterization of nucleic acid therapeutics and Lipid Nanoparticles (LNP).
- Develop analytical methods and conduct biochemical and biophysical characterization experiments to elucidate quality attributes of gene therapy candidates.
- Support basic research; adapt and/or optimize methods described in the literature.
- Conduct time-sensitive biochemical and extended characterization of siRNAs to meet regulatory timelines.
- Provide input on experimental design and suggest method adaptations for program needs and attributes of colloidal systems.
- Develop advanced technologies evaluating purity and/or thermodynamic and hydrodynamic interactions of siRNAs, mRNAs, CRISPR gRNA, and LNP-nucleic acid complexes.
- Support forced degradation studies assessing environmental stressors and their impact on stability of siRNA, LNPs, and their cargos.
- Document experiments/results in electronic laboratory notebooks; present work at meetings; contribute to protocols, method development reports, regulatory submission sections, and peer-reviewed publications.
- Maintain instruments, troubleshoot experimental problems, and order/maintain supplies.

Qualifications:
- BS or MS in Biophysics, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum experience: 0–2 years with an MS, or 2+ years with a BS.
- Fundamental understanding of practical biophysical chemistry of macromolecules in solution.
- Basic knowledge of oligonucleotide properties, lipid biochemistry, and gene editing therapeutics.

Required/Preferred Skills:
- Good laboratory practice: sample preparation, concentration calculations, documentation, and cleanliness.
- Basic practical experience with automated chromatography (FPLC, H/UPLC), spectroscopy (UV-Vis, fluorescence, FTIR, CD) and/or multi-angle/dynamic light scattering (MALS/DLS).
- Bonus: experience with mass spectrometry (MS), NMR, ELSD/CAD, charge-based methods, and/or advanced imaging.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong initiative and urgency for challenging tasks.
- Ability and desire to learn new technologies; work independently and collaboratively.
- Primarily on-site with partially remote (hybrid) schedule.
