Role Summary

Stoke is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Associate Scientist to join the In Vivo Pharmacology Department. This position is an opportunity to learn new techniques and concepts, be creative, and grow with a growing company. Location: Bedford, MA (in-person; move to Waltham, MA by end of 2026).

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute routine studies to investigate the PK/PD and efficacy of drug candidates.
  • Perform routine to intermediate handling procedures and injections (IV, SC, IP, ICV), monitor animal health, and collect tissues in mice.
  • Perform moderately complex behavioral experiments in animal models.
  • Support the implementation of new animal models.
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency to investigate, identify, develop, optimize, and troubleshoot new methods/ techniques/ instrumentation to address critical project needs.
  • Read and understand scientific literature.
  • Analyze data, author technical reports, and document experiments in an electronic notebook.
  • Participate and present at project team and departmental meetings.
  • Maintain laboratory organization including equipment upkeep and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Collaborate across functional areas.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BS with 7+ years post-graduate experience or MS with 4+ years of experience working in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company or contract research organization.
  • Experience with molecular biology assays such as qPCR, ELISA, MSD, BCA, Western Blot (or JESS) in tissue matrix.
  • Experience with ISH/IHC assays and analysis.
  • Proficiency with animal handling procedures and injections (IV, SC, IP and ICV).
  • Experience working with animal disease models.
  • Experience in neuroscience.
  • Experience with animal behavioral assays a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creative thinking and working well in a team environment.
