Associate Scientist II/Scientist I, Process Chemistry Separations

The AbbVie Process Chemistry Chromatographic Separations Lab is seeking an Associate Scientist II or Scientist I.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute purification processes supporting small molecule, antibody drug conjugate (ADC), and peptide clinical candidates.
- Plan, execute, and troubleshoot experiments; resolve key project challenges with appropriate autonomy.
- Perform laboratory and pilot-scale tasks; analyze and interpret data; drive project objectives.
- Suggest, adapt, and implement improved experimental protocols/techniques using relevant literature.
- Build and maintain cross-functional and peer collaboration.
- Foster continuous process improvement and a learning environment.
- Adhere to corporate standards for conduct, safety, quality, and proper handling of materials.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree with 3+ years relevant experience (Associate Scientist II) or 5+ years (Scientist I); or Masterโs degree with typically 0 additional experience (Associate Scientist II) or +2 years relevant experience (Scientist I).
- Strong Separations Science background to independently perform job functions.
- Proven ability to develop, troubleshoot, and modify chromatographic methods and purification protocols.
- Broad analytical expertise emphasizing chromatography, purification, and spectral analysis.
- Ability to search and evaluate scientific literature.
- Effective written/oral communication; able to work in multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred:
- Hands-on experience working with peptides (highly desirable, not required).
