Position Overview
Tonix seeks an Associate Scientist I to join a discovery and development team. The role involves independent discretion while executing predetermined research and day-to-day tasks in BSL/2 and ABSL/2 environments, with collaboration across teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct original immunotherapeutics research supporting RDC mission (e.g., autoimmunity, oncology).
- Develop in-vivo autoimmune models via downstream ex vivo sample processing, analysis, and results compilation.
- Under senior oversight, develop novel methods and assays contributing to the research pipeline.
- Plan and execute in-vitro and ex-vivo studies to meet timepoints, deadlines, and goals.
- Collect, analyze, and evaluate data; interpret results, make decisions, and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Prepare internal scientific presentations and reports.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Optimize and standardize in-vivo, ex-vivo, and in-vitro autoimmune models for reproducibility.
- Independently process tissue samples for spectral flow cytometry, in-vivo imaging, and molecular approaches.
- Maintain mammalian cell lines using sterile techniques; perform primary cell isolation from human and lab-animal sources.
- Run ELISAs and plate-based assays; analyze/interpreting data and present results.
- Troubleshoot and incorporate feedback; work cross-functionally; maintain electronic lab notebook.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree in molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, or related field.
- Ability to generate hypotheses and incorporate feedback to design studies.
- Hands-on biology experience (e.g., flow cytometry, ELISA, DNA/RNA isolation/handling, PCR) and aseptic cell culture.
- Comfortable with human and lab animal tissue samples.
- Ability for minimal travel and weekend work.
- Excellent written/verbal communication; strong planning/organization.
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision; team-oriented, results-driven problem solver.
