Role Summary

Associate Scientist, Gene Therapy responsible for design and development of ddPCR assays, quantitating DNA and mRNA from in vitro and in vivo samples, documenting methods and studies, and transferring assays to third party contractors. Collaborates with the analytical development team to expand molecular assay development, requiring proficiency in cellular and molecular biology including tissue processing, western blot, cloning, and mammalian cell culture/transfection.

Responsibilities

  • Mastery and execution of ddPCR assays developed in partnership with supervisor
  • Follow protocols and SOPs related to ddPCR lab work with in vitro and in vivo samples
  • Extraction of DNA, RNA and protein from samples for analysis
  • Western Blotting (traditional Western Blotting and automated quantitative Western)
  • Documentation of results in appropriate formats provided by supervisor

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology or similar field with 5+ years of industry experience, or Master’s degree in Biology with 3+ years of industry experience
  • Significant experience operating BioRad ddPCR equipment (QX200, QX1) with assay development/optimization and interpretation
  • Experience organizing experiments and writing protocols for developing R&D experiments
  • Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices and Good Laboratory Practices (GxP) is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to present research results in written reports and team presentations
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and train others
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and readiness to tackle challenges to bring novel medicines to the clinic
  • Strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety guidelines
