Role Summary
Associate Scientist, Flow Cytometry (Protein Expression Sciences) is a hands-on role responsible for operating and maintaining high-speed cell sorters and analyzers for a busy departmental core facility, performing cell sorting and data acquisition, and assisting in developing flow cytometric protocols.
Responsibilities
- Independently operates multi-laser, high-speed cell sorter and analyzers.
- Maintains, aligns, calibrates, and troubleshoots instruments for specific experimental requirements.
- Provides consultation, protocol design, data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation of flow cytometric experiments.
- Collaborates with field engineers and technical support; stays current with technologies to maintain expertise within the core facility.
- Analyzes data using various flow cytometric software.
- May write standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Trains users to operate analyzers.
- Maintains adequate inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelorβs degree in the sciences.
- Preferred: 1-2 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of flow cytometry principles and essential flow cytometric technical experience (up to 10 colors).
- Exposure to a multi-laser, high-speed cell sorter and analyzer is preferred but not required.
