Associate Scientist Discovery Proteomics

Role: Associate Scientist in Discovery Proteomics at Amgen, focusing on liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) techniques to support early drug discovery efforts. Primary objectives include executing and optimizing quantitative proteomic workflows for cell-surface target discovery, biomarker identification, and mechanism-of-action studies, collaborating closely with proteomics, genomics, biology, automation, and bioinformatics teams. Responsibilities encompass sample preparation, operation and maintenance of LC-MS systems, data processing using specialized software (e.g., Proteome Discoverer, Spectronaut), and troubleshooting workflow issues to ensure high-quality, reproducible data. Requirements: Master’s degree or equivalent experience in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or related fields; hands-on experience with proteomic sample prep, LC-MS systems, and data analysis tools; strong organizational and communication skills. Preferred qualifications include PhD or extensive experience with protein enrichment methods, automated sample prep platforms, and diverse biological samples (cell lines, tissues, biofluids).
