Role Summary

Associate Scientist, Biology at Insmed. Work with a multidisciplinary team to investigate therapeutics for neutrophil-mediated diseases across several pre-clinical projects, including cell culture, in vitro hematopoietic stem cell expansion and differentiation, in vitro compound screening, enzymatic assays, ex vivo processing, and molecular biology techniques such as flow cytometry, western blot, and ELISA.

Responsibilities

  • Culture primary cells and continuous cell lines to support in vitro/ex vivo experiments.
  • Perform and optimize in vitro assays to support compound screening.
  • Conduct molecular biology techniques such as flow cytometry, ELISA, and western blot.
  • Use plate readers, fluorescence microscopes, and flow cytometry instruments.
  • Process, analyze, and interpret complex datasets to generate insights that support decision-making.
  • Prepare concise presentations to communicate key data and findings.
  • Maintain proper documentation of experimental procedures and results via an electronic laboratory notebook.
  • Author and review technical reports and related documentation.
  • Present scientific data and key findings at internal research meetings.
  • Prepare and maintain a constant supply of reagents, buffers, and other materials to support ongoing assays.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or related field with at least 3 years of pharmaceutical experience or Bachelor's degree with at least 6 years of pharmaceutical experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience in cell culture and standard molecular biology assays, including enzymatic assays, flow cytometry, ELISA, and western blot.
  • Proficiency in data processing, analysis, statistics, and data interpretation.
  • Experience working with immune cells and hematopoietic stem cells.
  • Experience with microglia/astrocyte co-cultures, neuroinflammation assays, and BBB models is a plus.
  • Experience with cellular imaging instruments, fluorescence microscopes, and qPCR is a plus.
  • Knowledge of cell biology, immunology, or neuronal cell biology is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and take initiative independently; ability to train others.
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to present data clearly.

Education

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in relevant field as specified above.
