Role Summary

Associate Scientist – Analytical Chemistry, based in Thousand Oaks, CA. The role supports discovery research by developing and applying chromatographic methods for the analysis and purification of small molecules, contributing to medicinal chemistry efforts. You will work with state-of-the-art instrumentation and help enhance laboratory capabilities and process efficiency in a collaborative, science-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply chromatographic methods for analysis and purification of small molecules to support medicinal chemistry and discovery research.
  • Utilize a broad range of chromatographic instruments and technologies, including HPLC, HPLC-MS, SFC-MS, mass-directed purification, and preparative SFC.
  • Perform analytical characterization and purification of small molecules, contributing to continuous improvement of process efficiency, assay expansion, and laboratory capabilities.
  • Collaborate with a team of scientists in a state-of-the-art laboratory environment and develop technical expertise in pharmaceutical R&D.

Qualifications

  • Required: Master’s degree in Chemistry with 1 year of directly related experience
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field with 3 years of directly related experience
  • Preferred: Degree in Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related discipline
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience with chromatographic techniques, including HPLC and LC/MS; exposure to analytical or preparative SFC is a plus
  • Preferred: Experience with small-molecule analysis and purification in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology research environment
  • Preferred: Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Preferred: Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Preferred: Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team-based research setting

Education

  • Master’s degree in Chemistry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field
