Clinical Research and Development
Objective: Associate Scientific Fellow (Process Chemistry) is a technical leader with expertise in process chemistry development for synthetic molecules, advancing late-stage pipeline projects through complex scientific strategy, in-lab work, and leadership of internal/external efforts.
Accountabilities:
- Provide scientific leadership for synthetic molecule process development across Process Chemistry, SMPD, and Pharm Sci.
- Mentor colleagues in-lab; model best practices; review approaches to elevate rigor and problem-solving.
- Lead and execute complex scientific strategies across multiple late-stage programs.
- Design and advance robust, scalable drug substance manufacturing processes aligned to safety, sustainability, cost, and quality.
- Own technical responsibility for programs/initiatives and integrate process understanding into development and manufacturing readiness.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate scientific/process risks; develop innovative solutions to synthetic and process challenges.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration (SMPD, Pharm Sci, commercial) for technology transfer and lifecycle process development.
- Lead/manage external partnerships (CDMOs, academics, consultants); analyze data to build mechanistic understanding and define forward process strategies.
- Contribute to departmental scientific strategy; initiate cross-functional initiatives; represent the function via teams, publications, patents, and conferences.
Education/Experience/Skills (minimums):
- Bachelor’s + 15+ years industry; or Master’s + 13+ years; or PhD + 7+ years.
- Extensive CMC pharmaceutical development experience (API and drug products) under cGMP.
- Deep expertise in synthetic molecule process chemistry/late-stage process development; leadership across multidisciplinary cross-functional environments.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Analytical/problem-solving; technical expertise; cross-functional collaboration; communication; leadership/influence; knowledge sharing; external engagement; organization/execution.
Travel: ~5–10%.
