      Role Summary
 Associate Veterinary/Research Veterinarian position involving the veterinary care of pigs at a swine research facility, including routine veterinary care, surgical/post-operative procedures, disease testing, euthanasia, and related records in compliance with SOPs.
 
 Responsibilities
 
  - Perform day-to-day operations at the swine research facility related to routine veterinary care of USDA covered species
 
  - Provide surgical and post-operative care and procedures
 
  - Conduct disease testing, observe behavior, collect samples, administer medications
 
  - Perform euthanasia and maintain animal health records in line with USDA/FDA requirements
 
  - Follow SOPs and ensure compliance with regulatory and institutional standards
 
 
 
 Qualifications
 
  - Required: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with 2+ years of experience in a veterinary practice (Associate level)
 
  - Required: 1+ years of experience providing veterinary care to pigs
 
  - Required: 1+ years of experience performing medical tests, observing behavior, collecting samples, administering medications
 
  - Required: Must not have any other interactions with pigs outside of the company
 
  - Physical Demand: Lift 75 lbs to waist level; Carry 50 lbs; Push/Pull 200 lbs on wheels
 
  - Desirable: Licensed Medical Veterinarian in Virginia; USDA Level II Accreditation; Eligible for DEA License
 
  - Desirable: Proficient in surgical skills including abdominal and general surgery (e.g., caesarian section)
 
  - Note: For the Associate level, these requirements differ from the Research Veterinarian level (see below)
 
 
 
 Qualifications

  - Required: 3+ years of experience providing veterinary care to pigs
 
  - Required: 3+ years of experience performing medical tests, observing behavior, collecting samples, administering medications
 
  - Required: Virginia veterinary license to practice; USDA Level II Accreditation; Eligible for DEA License
 
  - Required: Proficient in surgical skills and capable of abdominal and general surgery including caesarian section
 
  - Required: Must not have any other interactions with pigs outside of the company
 
  - Physical Demand: Lift 75 lbs to waist level; Carry 50 lbs; Push/Pull 200 lbs on wheels
