Position Summary
The Associate Research Scientist I (ARSI) provides independent scientific expertise and leadership for pathology-related components of research and development initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary pathology advisor for R&D experiments (tissue selection, tumor assessment, pathology-related study design).
- Communicate pathology concepts, findings, and limitations; educate scientists on pathology considerations for experimental design and data interpretation.
- Review pathology reports; macrodissect/microdissect tumor areas; mark H&E (tumor and/or normal tissue); perform quality control.
- Independently evaluate pathology-related questions/issues; consult Pathologists for complex/novel cases.
- Develop, evaluate, and refine pathology protocols/standards for rigor and reproducibility.
- Contribute to digital pathology tools and analytical approaches (including algorithm development).
- Review pathology-related data/annotations/analyses for accuracy, consistency, and research appropriateness.
- Identify pathology-related risks/limitations/opportunities and recommend mitigations.
- Operate with high independence in planning/executing pathology-related research and prioritizing work.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical/biological/clinical/medical laboratory science or medical technology with qualifying certification (ASCP Cytotechnologist/Pathologist Assistant/Histotechnologist or applicable/internal training), OR
- Certified Medical Doctor (foreign trained acceptable), OR
- Alternative BS pathway with specified coursework and clinical lab training requirements.
- 3–5 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or MD; 5+ years.

Skills/Tools
- Independent scientific judgment in pathology research; interpret histologic findings; advise on experimental design.
- Collaborate with research teams and communicate to non-pathology stakeholders.
- Develop/contribute to pathology protocols and analytical approaches.
- Proficiency with LIS, digital pathology platforms, and scientific software.
- Strong written/verbal communication.
