Associate Principal Scientist – Vaccine Discovery Analytical Research (West Point, PA)
Responsibilities:
- Lead assay development and drive scientific contributions at the program level.
- Develop and implement advanced analytical techniques (chromatographic and electrophoretic separations with absorbance, fluorescence, mass spectrometry, and other detectors).
- Mentor junior scientists.
- Partner with project teams to select candidates for advancement from discovery to development; de-risk critical animal studies.
- Streamline transfer of analytical work to downstream organizations and external partners.
- Evaluate and implement new analytical technologies.
Education:
- Ph.D. with at least 3 years’ experience in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Immunology, or a closely related field.
Required Experience/Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of chemistry and separations (including UPLC with multiple separation types; electrophoretic separations).
- Experience with detection/analysis of small molecule–protein interactions.
- 3+ years analytical method development.
- Mentoring/leading skills; independent problem-solving; ability to troubleshoot separation methodologies.
- Proven publication record; strong verbal/written communication; manage multiple projects.
Preferred:
- Experience analyzing biological molecules; assay robustness evaluation.
- Custom code-enabled analysis workbooks; automated instrumentation; biophysical methodologies.
Required Skills: Analytical chemistry/thinking; biological assay development; liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS)/MS; process analytical technology (PAT); separation techniques; size exclusion chromatography (SEC); small molecules; external collaboration.
