Position Summary

The Associate Director, New Product Planning will be responsible for Competitive Intelligence and New Product Planning (NPP) efforts. This position will play a key role in driving competitive intelligence for commercial and pre-commercial programs and helping expand the influence of the new product planning function in the organization.

This position reports to the Senior Director, New Product Planning and will lead the competitive intelligence function for the commercial portfolio and serve as NPP/CI lead for later stage programs in the organization. This individual will spearhead the generation of competitive strategy insights, providing objective, in-depth actionable intelligence, and communicating with various stakeholders in IR, Commercial, Medical, Clinical, Regulatory, and the senior executive team. In addition, this person will lead the NPP function for assigned program/s, informing strategic decision-making for Crinetics’ portfolio in partnership with key stakeholders. This includes utilizing data and market knowledge to identify and initiate optimal approaches to both current product value and future areas of opportunity

Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities

These may include but are not limited to:

  • Lead competitive intelligence efforts leveraging both primary and secondary sources to inform strategy and decision-making
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure development and communication of actionable intelligence, including robust competitive market landscapes, presentations with clear storylines to communicate key conclusions and recommendations, and direct communication of insights and implications to senior leadership
  • Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders, as well as external agencies, to provide in-depth CI coverage at scientific and industry conferences, ensuring prompt communication of the insights and implications
  • Respond to ad hoc key business questions with expert analysis and clear communication
  • Act as the core strategic partner and advisor to GPT stakeholders while serving as subject matter expert on assigned cross-functional program team/s
  • Conduct primary and secondary market research to understand disease epidemiology, market environment, patient segmentation, patient journey, key competitors' strategy and activities, and customers' needs
  • Drive development of and maintenance of strategic target product profiles (TPPs) for R&D pipeline assets in conjunction with program teams
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop the market opportunity analytics plan, manage related projects, collect and manage the data in support of the plan, and collaborate with key business partners to develop short- and long-range forecasts, integrating emerging market dynamics and competitive assessments
  • Analyze target markets to determine current and future treatment paradigms, competitive landscape, unmet need, product positioning and value proposition, making commercial judgements around implications and ensuring stakeholder alignment
  • Other duties as required

Required

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required, an advanced degree in medicine, life sciences, or MBA is a plus
  • A minimum of 12 years’ experience in industry; minimum of three years’ experience in new product planning/ strategic planning roles in the pharmaceutical industry or life science consultancy; commercial experience in the industry is a plus
  • A minimum of three years and advanced understanding of CI processes, methods, industry ethics and compliance
  • Proficient in primary/secondary market research
  • Background in marketing and marketing analytics with a working knowledge of secondary data, mining secondary data sets and applying learnings to strategy development
  • Experience in forecasting and the appropriate forecasting model to leverage across different launch scenarios and markets
  • Excellent communication skills and strong analytical skills required to understand scientific and financial data, recognize key business issues, and prepare high-level presentations for senior executive staff review
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize work with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a smaller company environment and contribute to many different functions

Physical Demands And Work Environment

Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. Salary Range

The salary range for this position is: $167,000 - $209,000.

In addition to your base pay, our total rewards program consists of a discretionary annual target bonus, stock options, ESPP, and 401k match.
