Role Summary
Associate Neuroscience Sales Specialist - Flex Team - South Central. Interim coverage of open sales territories, including all aspects of sales territory management—selling specialty Neurology products to Movement Disorder Specialists and Neurologists. Willing to move within the U.S. as business needs dictate. Interim coverage typically spans 1–6 months, with possible reassignment; after 12 months, eligibility to apply for a full-time, long-term territory within the United States.
Responsibilities
- Effectively impacts existing and new customers by providing exceptional value and service, which helps providers identify and start appropriate patients on therapy.
- Educates physicians and physicians’ staff on the value of the Company’s products for patient care.
- Uses knowledge, critical thinking, and dialogue skills to deliver meaningful customer experiences that result in satisfaction, equity, and loyalty.
- Anticipates, identifies, and addresses healthcare professionals (HCP) objections, questions, and concerns.
- Utilizes appropriate techniques to gain consistent access to customers.
- Utilizes appropriate sales aids, clinical reprints, etc. according to training; tailors resources to customer needs.
- Develops strong relationships with HCP customers including key opinion leaders (KOLs) within the territory.
- Identifies and investigates customer concerns and communicates with appropriate staff to solve problems in a timely manner.
- Analyzes sales potential and executes in the territory to ensure appropriate calls, reach, frequency, meals, speaker programs, etc. within budgets and policy guidelines.
- Analyses, evaluates, and adjusts to develop effective quarterly business/action plans.
- Prepares and submits timely reports of business transactions and maintains accurate expense records.
- Provides guidance around pricing and reimbursement for promoted products; acts as liaison for reimbursement questions.
- Communicates and collaborates with sales management and cross-functional teammates as needed.
- Attends conferences, trainings, exhibits, meetings, and product launches as required.
- Assumes leadership opportunities as appropriate and maintains a positive, collaborative attitude.
- Remains compliant with all regulations; may participate in training of new Sales Specialists.
- May participate in training activities during Area, Regional, and National meetings; may mentor new/junior Sales Specialists.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's degree (life sciences preferred); minimum 2 years of healthcare sales experience.
- Required: Ability to travel 90% of the time and reside in assigned geographies for 1–6 months at a time.
- Required: In good standing with the FDA and OIG.
- Must possess: Demonstrated selling skills and ability to engage effectively with customers.
- Must possess: Ability to quickly build relationships with key customers and networks within the neuroscience community.
- Must possess: Ability to live within the assigned territory in temporary housing paid by Acadia and relocate every 3–6 months as needed.
- Must possess: Exceptional disease state and product knowledge; strong persuasive selling and negotiation skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must possess: Ability to assess territory opportunities and customer needs with a business-owner mindset; ability to learn and apply technical/scientific knowledge and business analyses.
- Must possess: Organization, initiative, self-motivation; professionalism, integrity, and ability to comply with strict policy in a highly regulated environment; ability to handle confidential information.
- Must possess: Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; willingness to drive company-provided car daily; overnight travel and air travel as required.
Education
- Bachelor's degree required, life sciences preferred; minimum 2 years of healthcare sales experience.
Additional Requirements
- Travel up to 90% of the time (territory geography dependent); may require temporary residence in territory for 3–6 months at a time and proximity to major airport.
- Physical requirements include regular standing, walking, sitting, handling equipment, occasional lifting up to 20 pounds, and travel after hours as needed.
