Responsibilities:
- Support development and execution of communications campaigns for priority U.S. policy goals with cross-functional partners.
- Implement campaign tactics across earned, paid, and owned channels.
- Coordinate with trade association public affairs teams (e.g., PhRMA, BIO) to align efforts and inform internal stakeholders on evolving policy/political environment.
- Advise on communications strategies/tactics across earned/paid media, digital/social amplification, advocacy partnerships, executive speaking, and events/briefings.
- Track the evolving U.S. policy landscape (drug pricing, IP, patient affordability, reimbursement, innovation) and flag implications for broader strategy.
- Improve advocacy efficiency through communications in support of policy priorities.
- Draft and support op-eds for Lilly executives.
- Develop advocacy materials (issue backgrounders, fact sheets, collaborator letters).
- Create proactive/reactive message documents (talking points, standby statements, press releases, FAQs).
- Monitor external stakeholder landscape; support assessment of potential issues and response strategies.
- Support rapid response protocols and lead incoming media inquiries related to public affairs/policy.
- Build/maintain relationships with key U.S. policy media.
- Evaluate and recommend new ideas; direct external agencies/vendors as needed.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelorβs degree in communications, public relations, journalism, political science, public policy, or related field.
- 3 years of communications experience with exposure to public affairs/policy communications or issues/crisis communications.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. full-time (Lilly will not sponsor visas).
Additional Skills/Preferences:
- Pharmaceutical/biotech/healthcare experience.
- Experience with trade associations/advocacy organizations/public affairs agencies.
- Paid media strategy and digital/social amplification experience.
- Strong project management and ability to collaborate across functions/geographies.
- Experience working with/directing external agencies and vendors.
