Role Summary
Associate Engineering Technician - CPO (Night Shift) provides support for the safe work permitting process at the Clayton, NC facility. You will manage permit requests through the permit lifecycle, including review/approve/issue of permits, review/approve/execute ICCs (LOTO), and review/approve Flush & Drain Plans. This role supports safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency within the Central Permit Office.
Responsibilities
- Recognize the conditions of work that require Lockout/Tagout
- Assess all hazardous energy sources including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, thermal, and other sources in machines, equipment, and systems which can be hazardous to employees and other stakeholders onsite
- Use documented procedures and approved isolation devices to implement Lockout/Tagout
- Must adhere to key elements of OSHA regulations known onsite as the Ten Life Safety Rules
- Adhere to all Quality & Environmental regulations within area of responsibility
- Support identification of hazards and associated mitigation plans
- Maintain standards & operational procedures for the Central Permit Office (CPO)
- Work daily with computer programs to perform tasks (Microsoft Office suite, CMMS SAP, Permit Vision, Robex, etc.)
- Occasionally make decisions of minor importance, which may affect the work operations of employees & other key stakeholders to a moderate degree
- Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties

Qualifications
- Required: HS Diploma or GED
- Preferred: Associateβs Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, or relevant field from an accredited university with a minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in engineering technology, maintenance, manufacturing or utilities
- Required: Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in engineering technology, maintenance, manufacturing or utilities
- Preferred: Knowledge & experience in the operations, and/or maintenance of utilities and/or manufacturing equipment
- Preferred: Experience working in a regulated environment (FDA, cGMP, OSHA)
- Required: Ability to use appropriate PPE, including PAPR
- Preferred: Willingness to join and actively participate in the Emergency Response Team (ERT)
- Required: Ability to read/review and understand P&ID, PFD, electrical schematics
- Preferred: Strong communication skills across multiple organizational levels
- Required: Understanding of Safe Work Practices
- Preferred: Experience identifying and isolating hazards (LOTO)
- Preferred: Willingness to join and actively participate as Health & Safety Representative (HSR)
Education
- Associate's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a relevant field of study (preferred)

- Physical demands: Moves equipment and/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds; routinely on your feet for up to a 12-hour shift
- May require corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25; color vision may be required depending on role
- Occasionally ascends/descends ladders; may work at elevated heights
- Occasionally works around odorous and/or hazardous materials; may require latex gloves
- May perform critical job functions in extremely cold work environments
- May position oneself within confined spaces for inspection
- Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection
- May require a motorized vehicle license and operation of a motorized vehicle
- May require PPE including PAPR
