Associate EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) Manager

Role: Associate EHS Manager supporting environmental, health, and safety programs at a biopharma research facility in San Carlos, CA. Objectives include ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting a safety culture, and supporting sustainability initiatives across laboratory and corporate operations. Responsibilities involve hazard assessments, developing and maintaining EHS programs (chemical management, biosafety, emergency response), conducting incident investigations, and facilitating audits and inspections, including biosafety for BSL-2 labs and compliance with California-specific regulations. The role also requires hands-on activities such as sampling, chemical handling, and training development, with a focus on lab safety, ergonomics, and hazardous waste management. Qualifications: Bachelor’s in science, engineering, or technology with 4+ years’ experience or relevant Master’s with 2 years; strong organizational, communication, and regulatory knowledge; certifications like CSP, CHMM, CIH are desirable. Experience in biotech research labs, GLP settings, or engineering services is preferred. The position involves collaboration with laboratory staff, facilities engineering, and corporate teams, with approximately 10% travel. Work setup is primarily administrative with hands-on duties, based mainly in San Carlos, CA, supporting US remote employees and South American QC labs.
