Role Summary

Associate Director, US Medical Neuroscience (Orexin) at Takeda. Hybrid role in Lexington, MA within the US Medical Affairs organization, supporting product-specific medical strategies and contributing to data-driven medical decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) representing USMA at the Global level for a product/franchise; drive medical unit insights, ad boards, and cross-functional communication.
  • Lead strategic and implementation support for clinical research (real world evidence, Phase 4, investigator-initiated research) and digital initiatives.
  • Lead strategic partnerships requiring cross-functional coordination; champion AI-powered tools and digital innovation within US Medical Affairs.
  • Oversee execution of medical strategies by the medical unit; track progress against strategic plans and communicate periodic reports.
  • Integrate AI-powered insights platforms and analytics into research, advisory board analysis, and stakeholder reporting to inform decision-making.
  • Support development and updates to product-specific medical strategies; contribute to long-term lifecycle management (HEOR).
  • Collaborate with Product Management to maintain medical landscape and insights to inform strategy.
  • Serve as in-house medical and scientific expert for assigned therapies; support strategic execution of Clinical research and generate insights from ad boards and field medical sources.
  • Engage externally with advisory boards, professional associations, meetings, and conferences; manage global interactions with US KOLs as needed.
  • Partner with medical unit leads to align execution of franchise/product medical strategy across tactics (grants, publications, communications, research, Field Medical, etc.).
  • Participate in internal engagement as delegated; demonstrate leadership behaviors and executive presence in cross-functional contexts.

Qualifications

  • Required: Advanced doctoral degree (MD, DO, PhD, PharmD) or equivalent; at least 4 years of pharmaceutical industry experience and/or clinical/research/academic experience; minimum 2 years of experience with clinical research, publications, congress presentations, and public speaking.
  • Preferred: Clinical experience treating sleep disorders; experience with real-world evidence generation using AI or digital data sources; experience leading digital innovation initiatives or using digital health technologies in clinical research or medical affairs.
