Role Summary

Associate Director, US International Tax. Lead all aspects of U.S. international tax input into processes including federal compliance, forecasting and quarterly tax provision and reporting, and partner with planning teams to ensure US international tax outcomes are reflected appropriately. Work within Global Tax Operations to understand, forecast, and comply with US international tax requirements, collaborating with global tax team members, external advisors, and business colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Lead timely and accurate delivery of U.S. international tax aspects of federal corporate and partnership compliance, including GILTI, FDII, BEAT, Subpart F, Section 861, and foreign tax credits.
  • Coordinate with outsource providers to ensure U.S. international tax returns (Forms 5471, 5472, 8865, 8858, 1118, etc.) and related disclosures are completed timely and accurately.
  • Deliver U.S. international tax aspects within quarterly provision and reporting processes, ensuring material accuracy and SOX governance compliance, including communication with auditors.
  • Provide input into forecasting and modelling processes, including accounting and cash tax implications of law changes, business changes, or Global Tax Strategy and Partnering projects.
  • Research, interpret, and communicate changes in U.S. and international tax laws and regulations; provide regular training and knowledge-sharing sessions for team members and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist Tax Controversy team with drafting responses to IRS audits or inquiries related to U.S. international tax matters, including preparation of supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with UK and Swedish tax teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting submissions.
  • Support other allocated elements of U.S. federal tax compliance and reporting.
  • Embed a culture of continuous process improvement and automation.
  • Play leadership role within U.S. tax team and coach/develop team members.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting or business administration.
  • Essential: 8–12 years of tax provision and compliance experience in a large corporation or large accounting firm, with a focus on U.S. international tax.
  • Essential: Deep technical knowledge of U.S. international tax code and regulations; ability to research, provide insight, and influence senior leaders.
  • Essential: Knowledge of federal corporate and partnership tax return filings.
  • Essential: Knowledge of tax accounting principles, preferably IFRS, and federal and state tax laws.
  • Essential: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet due dates; strong written and verbal communication to brief Senior Tax Management.
  • Essential: Positive interpersonal skills and motivation; proven ability to lead a project to timely completion.

Desirable for the role

  • Master’s degree in Taxation or JD/LLM.
  • Minimum 3 years or more of U.S. international tax experience.
  • CPA certification or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Corptax and Longview software (preferred but not required).
  • Knowledge of RIA research tools.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP (preferred but not required).
  • Enthusiastic, technically capable individual with a strong commercial mindset and interest in AstraZeneca’s business.

  • None specified beyond the essential Bachelor’s degree requirement.
