Associate Director, CMO Execution (Global External Manufacturing - GEM)
Core Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end CMO supply execution: convert forecasts to purchase orders, manage order lifecycle through QA release, and ensure PO transaction processing and inventory/consumption reporting.
- Review and validate medium- to long-term forecasts (~24 months); align forecast commitments to contract terms and CMO capacity; ensure firm orders align to commitments.
- Serve as primary operational interface with CMOs; coordinate manufacturing progress, batch release timelines, and supply commitments.
- Lead GEM CMO Execution engagement forums within the monthly S&OP cycle.
- Identify and resolve supply risks (delays, capacity, quality); lead escalation and drive stakeholder alignment.
- Track and report metrics (schedule adherence, production attainment, on-time delivery); perform root-cause analysis and drive continuous improvement.
- People leadership: manage ~5+ direct reports.
Knowledge / Required Skills
- Strong verbal/written communication; structured, concise written messaging.
- Strong negotiation, organizational, and time/project management skills.
- Ability to interact with senior management; strong regulatory/industry knowledge (pharmaceutical GMPs, ICH Q7A).
- In-depth understanding of supply chain practices and financial aspects.
Requirements
- 10+ years relevant experience with BS/BA; or 8+ years with MA/MBA; or 5+ years with PhD/PharmD.
- May require experience purchasing custom chemicals, planning pharmaceutical development, and managing third-party synthesis of intermediates/APIs.
- Preferred: experience in pharmaceutical operations/cGMP environment.
Benefits / Compensation (as stated)
- Salary range: $182,070.00 - $235,620.00; may include discretionary annual bonus, long-term incentives, paid time off, and medical/dental/vision/life insurance.
