Role Summary

Associate Director, Strategic Sourcing - Equipment. Lead category management for Equipment across the value chain, developing scalable strategies, collaborating with internal stakeholders, and driving multi-year sourcing execution to support business goals. Based in Boston, MA with global scope and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Proficient in building trusted stakeholder relationships, understanding objectives, and driving multi-year strategic and operational plans.
  • Manage Equipment category globally, including strategy development, supplier relationship management, and tactical RFx activities.
  • Conduct market research and translate data into actionable insights.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and refresh category strategies with business stakeholders for related sub-categories.
  • Lead negotiations and contracts with Vertex suppliers.
  • Oversee Supplier Performance/Relationship Management, including executive-level reporting and follow-up.
  • Lead change management and communications to identify risks and mitigate them.
  • Collaborate on risk and resiliency strategies to ensure continuity in preclinical portfolios.
  • Define KPIs and integrate them into contractual documents and dashboards to drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify risks with Risk SME involvement and develop mitigation plans.
  • Lead the RFx process end-to-end, including requirements, RFPs, vendor negotiations, and supplier agreements.
  • Define value objectives and cost-savings targets with business partners and finance, and ensure achievement.
  • Mentor sourcing colleagues, temporary workers, and co-ops as directed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; MS or MBA in Scientific or Business discipline preferred.
  • Proficient category-specific sourcing experience in Equipment and related maintenance services in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
  • Strong understanding of the regulated pharmaceutical environment.
  • Six Sigma certification desired.
  • Ability to contribute to goal-setting for Strategic Sourcing.
  • Experience leading all aspects of Strategic Sourcing (RFx, negotiation, contract execution, supplier performance, stakeholder management).
  • Ability to influence senior leadership and act as a thought partner.
  • Proficiency in O2C processes, 3PL/4PL, GDP, and supplier risk management.
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP systems, e-Sourcing tools, BI and reporting platforms.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and proficiency with Excel, Power BI, and related tools.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement tools and project management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; capable of engaging executive audiences.
  • Track record managing multiple complex projects with timely deliverables.
