Associate Director, Strategic Planning and Operations
What You Will Do
- Serve as a senior partner to the VP of Global Patient Safety and the GPS Executive Leadership Team, translating strategy into priorities, operating plans, leadership routines, executive communications, and measurable outcomes.
- Lead the Strategic Planning and Operations team to ensure consistent, high-quality planning and operational support across GPS.
- Strengthen the GPS operating rhythm and drive accountability by proactively identifying interdependencies, risks, and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Thought partner to executive leadership; shape priorities and translate strategy into action.
- Lead operating rhythm (leadership meetings, business reviews, goal tracking, decision forums, follow-up mechanisms).
- Prepare senior leadership discussions and develop executive narratives, talking points, presentations, and communications.
- Drive accountability (owners, milestones, dependencies, escalation).
- Partner cross-functionally (GPS, R&D SPO leadership, HR, Finance) to align GPS priorities with enterprise objectives.
- Lead annual and multi-year planning, financial/resource planning, and business operations processes for GPS.
- Design and implement initiatives/process improvements and operating model enhancements.
- Support communication, engagement, and change management efforts.
- Undertake QPPV-delegated activities and support inspection readiness (as applicable).
Knowledge and Skills (Required/Preferred)
- Strong business judgment; ability to synthesize complex information and drive implementation.
- Executive communication; proactive leadership in ambiguity; influence in a matrixed organization.
- Leadership, coaching, facilitation, and strong ownership.
Basic Qualifications
- Doctorate + 3 years relevant experience OR Master’s + 5 OR Bachelor’s + 7 OR Associate’s + 12 OR High school/GED + 14.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA/PharmD/PhD (or equivalent); experience as chief of staff/enterprise planning/transformations.
- Experience in Patient Safety/Pharmacovigilance/R&D/Regulatory/Medical.
- Experience translating priorities into operating plans and decision materials; leading strategic planning/operations teams.
- Experience with planning, resource planning, budget management, business performance, or process improvement.
