Associate Director, Stem Cell Research

Role: Lead the Cell & Gene Therapy stem cell-derived islet (SC-islet) production at Vertex, managing a team of scientists to advance T1D programs. Responsibilities: oversee workflows for stem cell culture, differentiation, process automation, and analytical evaluation; coordinate experiments across cell types; support IND-enabling activities and regulatory documentation; build collaborations within R&D; develop budgets; ensure data integrity and reporting. Requirements: Ph.D. in molecular/cell biology or biochemistry with 4-7 years post-doc experience, or relevant master's/ bachelor's with extensive industry experience; expertise in human pluripotent stem cell culture, directed differentiation, and assay development; strong leadership, communication, and project management skills. Preferred: cross-functional collaboration, team leadership, and experience with regulatory submissions. High-Value: focus on stem cell and immunology in T1D, cell therapy process development, IND support, and GxP standards. WorkSetup: on-site five days a week with ad hoc flexibility.
