Associate Director, Signal Detection Scientist (1 of 2)

Role: Associate Director, Signal Detection Scientist in pharmacovigilance within Johnson & Johnson's Innovative Medicine R&D. The primary objective is to lead aggregate safety surveillance activities for post-marketing data, focusing on detecting and evaluating new safety signals and trends from complex pharmaceutical products, including large-scale innovative therapies. Responsibilities include developing and implementing product-specific safety surveillance plans, conducting signal validation through systematic reviews of spontaneous adverse event reports and data mining activities in safety platforms like Empirica Signal, and supporting the exploration of novel methodologies and data sources for safety assessment. The role involves collaboration with Medical Safety Officers, Safety Scientists, and cross-functional teams, participating in safety forums, and communicating findings to stakeholders. Qualifications require a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (preferably in healthcare), with at least 3 years of industry experience in pharmacovigilance or drug safety, and 1 year of clinical/patient care experience preferred. Knowledge of global regulatory guidance on adverse event reporting, experience with safety data analysis, and data manipulation in Excel are essential; familiarity with SAS or related tools and epidemiologic principles is desirable. The position demands strong analytical, project management, and communication skills, with up to 10% domestic/international travel. The role is hybrid, based in Titusville, NJ, Raritan, NJ, or Horsham, PA.
