Role Summary
Associate Director, Scientific Publications Medical Writer-Viral Hepatitis & Inflammation. The role focuses on developing and communicating scientific publications in Viral Hepatitis, Chronic Liver Diseases, and Inflammation, collaborating with cross-functional teams, thought leaders, and external audiences while adhering to industry guidelines and maintaining high standards of accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop Viral Hepatitis, Chronic Liver Diseases, and Inflammation related publications, including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and other scientific materials.
- Write, edit, and proofread scientific content for publication in peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations.
- Identify clear and scientifically appropriate ways to communicate Gilead Science data with cross-functional leads.
- Collaborate with Liver Disease and Inflammation thought leaders to adjudicate and revise publications.
- Conduct literature searches and gather relevant data to support scientific arguments and conclusions.
- Ensure compliance with publication guidelines and ethical standards (e.g., ICMJE, GPP, CONSORT).
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and accuracy.
- Work closely with researchers and clinicians to ensure accurate interpretation and communication of scientific data.
- Stay current with developments in research, new therapies, treatments, and regulatory changes; communicate relevant information to internal teams.
- Engage with professional societies (e.g., ISMPP) to understand the evolving publications landscape.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of publication databases (e.g., Datavision or similar).
Qualifications
- Required: 10+ years with BS/BA or 8+ years with MS/MA or MBA.
- Preferred: Advanced degree in a scientific or medical discipline (Ph.D., MD, PharmD) with 5-8 yearsβΓΓ΄ experience in publication development, preferably in Viral Hepatitis, Chronic Liver Diseases, and Inflammation within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Therapeutic area experience.
- CMPP certification preferred.
- Understanding of current publication practices and guidelines (ICMJE, GPP4, Sunshine Act, Pharma Code, etc.).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and reference management software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to translate complex scientific concepts for diverse audiences.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to critically analyze data and literature.
- Familiarity with publication planning processes, authorship criteria, and disclosure requirements.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
