Role Summary

Associate Director, Sales at Maravai LifeSciences will help lead revenue growth, market expansion, and product adoption. The role is responsible for scaling the business, delivering agile, high-quality solutions, and establishing long-term client partnerships. This position reports to the VP & GM of Glen Research and will oversee a small commercial sales team, serving as a player-coach.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team to exceed revenue targets and drive regional growth.
  • Own and execute commercial strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Build and nurture strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the assigned scope.
  • Navigate complex agreements, including Material Supply Agreements, IP licensing, and contract negotiations.
  • Maintain deep market knowledge and apply technical expertise to client applications (e.g., mRNA, oligonucleotides, enzymes, vaccines, cell & gene therapy) and position solutions that drive customer success.
  • Manage forecasting and pipeline using Salesforce and other tools to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Champion VOC to inform marketing strategies, product development, and sales enablement initiatives.
  • Represent the company at conferences and symposia, delivering compelling presentations to expand brand and product awareness.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genomics, Biochemistry, or related field, with 8 years of commercial experience in life sciences, biotechnology, or related sectors.
  • Preferred: Advanced degree or business credentials with 6 years of experience; experience in a start-up sales environment preferred.
  • Required: Minimum of 4 years in leading a commercial sales team.
  • Preferred: Global leadership experience.
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets, driving market expansion, and leading high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of molecular biology applications, biologics manufacturing, and cGMP principles.
  • Skilled in contract negotiation, strategic partnerships, and navigating complex commercial agreements, including IP licensing and supply contracts.
  • Proficient in Salesforce, MS Office, with strong analytical, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and strategic thinking abilities, with a collaborative and customer-focused mindset.
