      Role Summary
 Associate Director - Research IT, Data Management. In Research and Pre-Clinical Development IT, we deliver complex enterprise systems to help the Research Scientists solve their toughest business problems. The role focuses on organizing, managing, and transforming biological research data into scientific insights, leveraging data platforms and solutions to inform scientists in a user-friendly way.
 
 Responsibilities
 
 - Contributes to strategic planning to optimize data management resources.
 
 - Collaborates with Data SMEs and Scientists to improve data models and promote data-driven decision making.
 
 - Manages the team designing/developing data solutions including data warehouses, data stores, data lakes, data pipelines, machine learning, BI and analytics systems.
 
 - Oversees R&D IT and Research user demands across the full data-solution lifecycle (demand to design, development, maintenance, operations).
 
 - Implements and drives data governance, data security, and management frameworks, policies, protocols, and SOPs for R&D functions.
 
 - Standardizes QA and testing processes to enhance data quality and accuracy.
 
 - Develops standards and procedures for data intelligence tools and systems.
 
 - Provides process maturation for data stewardship in research data.
 
 - Mentors on solution approaches, coaches on technologies, and builds team-wide understanding of capabilities and direction.
 
 
 
 Qualifications
 
 - Advanced degree in Biology or Computer Science with 10+ years of experience on Big Data Platforms (EMR & Hadoop preferred).
 
 - Experience working within R&D IT programs in Pharma/Biotech is highly preferred.
 
 - Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong verbal/written communication.
 
 - Ability to interact effectively with IT and Scientific teams and business partners across the organization.
 
 
 
 Skills
 
 - Delivery of BI, Big Data, Data Lake & Data Warehouse solutions; scalable for multiple stakeholders.
 
 - Leadership of software development teams; training and education capabilities.
 
 - Collaboration with IT teams, vendor partners, collaborators, and architects; DevOps advocate.
 
 - Agile/Lean/Continuous Delivery experience; ability to operate autonomously and in matrixed environments.
 
 - Ability to articulate technical/ political implications of transformative solutions; advisory with senior IT leaders.
 
 
 
 Education
 
 - Advanced degree in Biology or Computer Science (as above).
 
 
 
 Additional Requirements
 
 - Onsite work at Global Research HQ in Tarrytown, NY with a minimum of 4 days onsite required; not open to fully remote or hybrid.
