Role Summary

Associate Director, Rare Disease Data Product Management based in Cambridge, MA. Responsible for managing and enhancing data environments that support Rare Disease Analytics, Sales, and Marketing, while staying current on data analytics trends and developing a roadmap for new data sources and capabilities. Partners with Technology, Market Access, and Commercial Operations on data-related initiatives to improve accuracy, reduce cycle times, enable AI, and consolidate reporting. Leads data quality initiatives and drives improvements in data governance, systems, and processes within a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Rare Disease Business Unit to coordinate all data product development and interface with operational partners in Data, Digital, and Technology, Commercial Operations and Business Solutions, Patient and Market Access, and beyond.
  • Manage requirements, specifications, and design of the data product environment to support analytical, reporting, and stakeholder needs; collaborate across Analytics to triage issues and identify expansion opportunities.
  • Ensure internal and external teams have clear direction on expectations and lead a continuous improvement process with performance measures.
  • Manage changes in upstream or downstream systems affecting data products, prioritization, requirements gathering, and implementation leadership.
  • Maintain stakeholder engagement across analytics functions outside Commercial Analytics and Insights to proactively support business objectives.
  • Partner with Commercial Operations and Technology to ensure data warehouse and reporting platform changes align with business needs, including review and approval of data model changes.
  • Collaborate with Technology to ensure data/supporting technologies remain available to end users.
  • Work with senior staff to identify resource needs and negotiate to meet market access requirements.
  • Develop Therapeutic Area and franchise-specific product knowledge and capture business rules for data products published to user communities.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor's degree (preferably in Statistics, Business, or Information Systems).
  • Required: 10+ years in Operations/IT with data analysis, metadata management, and data quality experience, preferably in pharma.
  • Required: 10+ years in Data Management including data architecture, governance, data modeling, ETL, Enterprise Data Warehouse, and analytics.
  • Required: 6+ years of matrix-management experience across levels.
  • Required: Proven experience with Sales and Marketing organizations, especially in a pharmaceutical context; experience with pharmaceutical data sources (e.g., IQVIA, Komodo, Market Access, Patient Services, Specialty Pharmacy).
  • Required: Demonstrated experience in all phases of the data development life cycle (Requirements, Design, Development, Testing, Deployment, Change Management).
  • Required: 1+ years of experience with Cloud Data Platform technologies (e.g., Databricks).
  • Required: Understanding of data warehousing design and implementation, including ingestion, self-service, automation, and related services.
  • Required: Knowledge of data governance concepts and tools including Master Data Management.
  • Required: Fluency with AI/GenAI techniques and their potential applicability to commercial pharma teams.
  • Required: Ability to guide a team in multiple project management modes including Agile; proven project management skills for large-scale change programs.
  • Required: Proficiency in Word, Excel, Project, Visio, and PowerPoint; advanced Excel (pivot tables, databases, macros).
  • Required: Experience in supporting large-scale system implementations.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of SQL, SAS; familiarity with Python, PySpark, Spark.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree.
  • Preferred: Experience with BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
