Responsibilities:
- Provide communications strategic counsel using understanding of enterprise businesses, therapeutic areas, industry, and external landscape for headquarters, in-country communicators, and functional/franchise teams.
- Build relationships and provide strategic communications counsel to senior leaders of the Specialty business.
- Collaborate with U.S. and global brand teams and cross-functional partners to set and achieve brand goals; communicate progress, changes, and milestones.
- Deliver public affairs and advocacy engagement plans to support global Specialty objectives and uphold reputation by engaging cross-functional partners, mitigating issues, and elevating reputation.
- Obtain internal stakeholder alignment and resources; oversee public relations and creative agency teams to execute 2024 tactical program elements (on time/on budget).
- Partner with R&D Communications on scientific data disclosures for on-market brands; shape external environment for the Obesity pipeline.
- Lead issues management communications for U.S. Specialty and international brands; advise in-country communications teams on local issues.
- Serve as spokesperson for designated brands; oversee identification/development/maintenance of internal and third-party spokespeople; engage media and KOLs; advise on local media engagements.
- Hybrid work model: 3 days in office (Mettawa)/2 days remotely.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree required (communications, marketing, business, public relations, or journalism preferred).
- 8+ years communications/marketing experience; preferred PR agency or pharmaceutical in-house communications with increasing responsibility or similar regulated-industry roles.
- 2 years experience developing and leading multi-year strategic communications plans aligned with business objectives.
- Strong critical thinking; proactive self-starter; can work independently and in teams in a matrix environment.
- Excellent networking and relationship-building skills.
- Experience planning/executing integrated marketing communications platforms for international audiences.
- Experience leading geographically diverse teams.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Preferred:
- Masterโs degree or other postgraduate work.
- Extensive experience with senior management and customers.
- Experience managing healthcare advocacy group relationships.
- Experience leading data/science communications.
- Understanding of global access and reimbursement; experience driving patient access strategies.
- Strong digital/rich media strategy experience.
- Experience using social/patient stakeholder research insights to drive global public affairs strategy.
