Role Summary

The Associate Director, Product Design & UX leads design for optimized, highly personalized user interfaces and interactions across data visualization, digital products, platform applications, and design systems, addressing the needs within Cardiovascular, Immunology, Neuroscience, and Oncology domains. Location is East Hanover, NJ, with potential for distant work arrangements in some states; remote workers cover home office costs and travel to East Hanover as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding User Needs (SME Focus): Conduct in-depth user research within the specialized domain to identify user needs, pain points, and workflows, tailoring design to each persona.
  • Balancing Creativity & Functionality (UI & Product Design): Ensure aesthetics and usability, delivering a seamless user experience while following usability and accessibility principles.
  • Dynamic User Interface Design (UI Expertise): Create UI artifacts including wireframes, storyboards, user flows, visual mockups, and prototypes with typography, color, hierarchy, and other design elements.
  • Information Architecture: Structure content and information for easy, usable, intuitive navigation and interactions.
  • Design for Complex Systems: Simplify intricate workflows, accommodate multiple user roles, and account for the human element in complex scenarios.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to align design with objectives and constraints.
  • Advocacy for the User: Champion user needs across the product lifecycle, especially during requirements gathering and usability testing.
  • Iterative Design & Continuous Improvement: Test, gather feedback, and iterate to enhance design and functionality.
  • Design System Management and Governance: Create and refine UI components, tokens, libraries, and guidelines, maintaining consistency across products.

Qualifications

  • Degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Design, Computer Science, HCI, UX, or related field.
  • Minimum 4–6 years of experience in Product UI and Interaction Design, UX, or related roles.
  • Strong understanding of Human-Centered Design principles and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • In-depth Design System experience and expertise.
  • Ability to influence and drive change in a complex organization.
  • Strong analytical skills to translate data insights into actionable solutions.
  • Certifications in HCD/UX/UI design or related areas are desirable.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, Storybook, Zeplin, Miro, Mural/Microsoft Whiteboard, Notion/Teamwork/ClickUp, Confluence/Jira, UserZoom/UserTesting.
