Role Summary

Associate Director, Procurement Compliance at AbbVie. Leads the Risk & Compliance team to strategically develop and implement procurement policy and requirements, overseeing procurement compliance, deploying policy changes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Manages Compliance Managers and fosters a culture of strategic thinking, problem-solving, and AI-enabled compliance policy management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a risk-based compliance model integrating AI-driven monitoring and analytics with procurement policy and requirements to minimize compliance risks.
  • Oversee function compliance across all procurement policy and innovate methods for tracking, monitoring, and reporting compliance-related issues.
  • Lead deployment of changes in procurement policy or requirements, updating risk taxonomy, compliance escalations, and governance strategies; ensure adoption of new compliance responsibilities and AI-assisted tools.
  • Oversee execution of compliance initiatives including requirements gathering, policy adjustments, and compliance tracking, embedding automation and anomaly detection into project delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and executive leadership to understand changes to procurement policy and translate requirements, ensuring clarity and alignment for project delivery.
  • Oversee monitoring and reporting on compliance across categories and suppliers using predictive analytics; assess policy applicability and identify gaps in current-state compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement by staying abreast of regulatory changes and industry trends, adapting processes to evolving risks.
  • Provide leadership to Compliance Managers, maintaining ownership of deployed AI use cases and developing an AI roadmap for Compliance with responsible model training and readiness.
  • Set objectives and performance metrics for direct reports, fostering accountability and clearly communicating compliance goals and value.
  • Cultivate a team environment valuing strategic thinking, innovative problem-solving, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement, quality assurance, supplier management, audit, supply chain, or related function.
  • Knowledge of AI governance and responsible AI in relation to Procurement Compliance.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and managing senior internal business leaders.
  • Experience leading procurement policy and inspection strategy within a procurement function.
  • Proven expertise in compliance management with familiarity of industry requirements.
  • Experience leveraging AI, data analytics, or digital compliance tools to strengthen compliance and risk management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
