What You Will Do
- Develop and execute the category strategy for external API manufacturing, including market analysis, supplier identification, evaluation and selection, contract negotiation, and managing risk, cost, and supply.
- Lead review of requirements; develop sourcing strategies; manage supplier due diligence; oversee the RFP process; support contract and award; and oversee contract management.
- Lead on-site due diligence with potential CMOs; lead and discuss supplier contract terms; collaborate with business partners if issues or disputes arise.
- Ensure commercial agreements address supply risks and company liabilities; provide commercial support to supplier relationship management issues and disputes.
- Ensure company priorities and interests (e.g., product teams, supply chain, legal, quality, compliance) are represented in commercial agreements; provide market intelligence on CMO capabilities.

Your Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in procurement, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, chemistry, business or related fields.
- 5+ years of procurement, business development, contract manufacturing, or commercial B2B responsibilities in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience participating in or leading negotiations with internal stakeholders and external partners (vendors, suppliers, clients).
- Authorization to work in the United States full-time; Lilly will not sponsor visas.

What You Should Bring
- Excellent written/verbal/interpersonal communication; ability to influence and negotiate with internal/external partners and senior leaders.
- Demonstrated category management and contract negotiations experience for strategic high-value deals.
- Ability to act independently with minimal supervision in a complex multi-organization environment while maintaining compliance.
- Experience managing third-party relationships (supplier management/oversight, supplier selection, contracting, problem resolution) and leading cross-functional teams.
- Experience with global suppliers in commercial, technical, or governance capability.
- Strong English and analytical/problem-solving skills; business acumen.
- Strong commercial acuity, project management, and presentation skills; experience with Microsoft Office and SAP/Ariba.
