Associate Director, Procurement
Key Accountabilities / Core Job Responsibilities
- Work with Development, Commercial, and other functions for vendor sourcing, RFP generation, assessments and selection, agreement negotiation, and performance management.
- Guide users and vendors to follow the procure-to-pay process and minimize non-conformances (e.g., missing PO#s).
- Lead timely resolution of procure-to-pay issues with Development/Commercial and vendors.
- Manage vendor performance, ensuring adherence to executed agreements and driving improvement actions.
- Serve as Procurement lead in joint operations reviews and governance meetings to ensure contracts are followed, risks are managed, and vendor relationships are optimized.
- Document, monitor, and report vendor savings and other Procurement KPIs.
- Use competitive and market data to support effective negotiation outcomes.
- Provide benchmarking and subject matter expertise; recommend spend behavior.
- Drive Procurement strategy.
- (If applicable) Lead direct reports with goal setting, growth planning, policy adherence, training compliance, and ongoing feedback.
Qualifications / Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or closely related field (required).
- 9+ years procurement experience in biotech/pharmaceutical.
- 5+ years people management experience (if applicable).
- Strong experience in purchasing, negotiation, and vendor relationship management.
- Familiar with Development and Commercial activities in a biotech company.
- Strong knowledge of Procurement IT solutions (e.g., Coupa, Concur) and GAAP/SOX/internal accounting controls.
Compensation / Benefits
- Salary range: $159,000–$207,000. Total rewards include 401k, healthcare coverage, ESPP, and other benefits.
