Role Summary

Associate Director – Process Control & Automation Engineering, responsible for supervising process control engineers and technicians, ensuring reliable and compliant control applications and systems for GMP manufacturing of API drug substance. Partners to influence and implement within the process control organization and across disciplines to support technical agenda, business plan priorities, and compliance objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coach process control team, including performance reviews and development plans
  • Staffing: recruiting, resource planning, and succession planning
  • Process control work coordination
  • Review and monitor financial performance; commit to meeting targets
  • Develop and implement the Process Control Engineering Business Plan

Qualifications

  • Minimum B.S. in Engineering (preferably Chemical Engineering) with experience in Process Control Engineering, preferably in API manufacturing
  • 5+ years of experience in Process Control and Automation Engineering, preferably in API manufacturing
  • State licensure as a Professional Engineer not required but encouraged

Skills

  • Ability to instill teamwork and interpersonal skills within the department
  • Ability to ensure technical depth and rigor in deliverables
  • Experience recruiting and retaining staff; independent decision-making; ability to network
  • Ability to function as a leader and as a member of management teams

Education

  • B.S. in Engineering (preferably Chemical Engineering)

Additional Requirements

  • Demonstrated commitment to environmental, health, and safety (including PSM)
  • Ability to operate in a startup environment, collaborate across functions, and support GMP operations
  • Flexibility to engage in project startup activities (startup expected 2025–2027)
