Role Summary
The Associate Director of Nephrology Pricing & Contracting Strategy leads the pricing and contracting strategy for Biogen’s nephrology product portfolio across Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial payers to support a successful launch across multiple indications. The role reports to the Head of Nephrology Access Strategy within US Market Access & Reimbursement and collaborates cross-functionally to ensure alignment with Insights & Analytics, Finance, Brand, and Policy teams. It also develops innovative contracting solutions for various provider types, payer channels, and GPOs to improve patient access and requires experience with buy-and-bill and Part B/Medical products and knowledge of ASP and government pricing dynamics.
Responsibilities
- Develop payer and provider contracting strategies to facilitate patient access for Biogen’s nephrology products
- Develop launch product pricing strategy for Biogen’s nephrology asset (across multiple indications)
- Develop models to evaluate the impact of potential pricing & contracting approaches on key stakeholders across all channels
- Independently manage projects from start to finish
- Work cross-functionally within the US Organization to align on US market access approach across products
- Partner with Global Value & Access as well as Public Policy & Government Affairs (PPGA) to align on assumptions and strategy development
- Serve as a subject matter expert on contracting approaches across nephrology products
- Present recommendations to senior leadership for approval
Qualifications

- Education: BA/BS Required; master's or higher preferred
- 7+ years prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a consulting firm with roles focused on contracting, pricing, or market access
- Ability to develop and communicate brand-specific pricing/contracting strategy informed by primary and secondary research and aligned with overall business and organizational objectives
- Knowledge of US government pricing dynamics (Medicaid, 340B, Medicare Parts B & D)
- Understanding of Buy & Bill and discounting dynamics
- Experience with conducting primary payer and provider market research
- Experience with online survey tools and syndicated data sources
- Excellent analytic, strategic, and critical thinking skills with ability to translate data into strategy
- Highly motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to develop and deliver clear, compelling presentations on complex pricing topics to senior leadership
- Ability to build and maintain strong cross-functional and cross-team ties to influence colleagues
