Role Summary

Associate Director of Pipeline Project Management to support Discovery & Early Development across the HIV and/or Global Health portfolio. Reports to the Senior Director of Pipeline Project Management and collaborates with the Asset Development Project Leader to integrate and manage cross-functional project teams to plan and achieve key milestones.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and/or contribute to asset strategy and evidence strategy, and lead development of the integrated project plan to ensure feasibility and alignment with therapeutic area strategy, prioritization, and pipeline performance objectives.
  • Own the single integrated plan that builds team commitment to shared goals with schedules and budgets based on clear dependencies and assumptions.
  • Lead options planning, generate recommendations, alternatives, and trade-offs to strengthen decision-making and optimize the project strategy.
  • Lead team preparation for governance decisions and own schedule, risk, and budget inputs.
  • Identify opportunities to accelerate milestones by challenging constraints that impact critical path and near-critical path activities.
  • Orchestrate seamless handoffs with focus on the critical path through proactive project plan monitoring, risk management, and cross-functional management of project issues with timely escalation to leadership as required.
  • Ensure rigor, consistency, and compliance in established systems to drive timely, high-quality data and reporting in and across projects.
  • Build trusting relationships with the team and stakeholders to encourage transparency and collaboration.
  • Use strong facilitation skills to lead regular project team meetings and apply consistent best practices for meeting agendas, actions, minutes, and other meeting documentation.
  • Establish and sustain agreed-upon ways of working for effective team communication, decisions, and conflict resolution.
  • Actively promote GSKโ€šร„รดs Code and values. Be inclusive, cultivate psychological safety, and ensure that all relevant voices are heard to strengthen outcomes and foster broad commitment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant life sciences discipline (e.g. drug discovery & development, biology, biochemistry, immunology, pharmacology, toxicology, etc.).
  • Substantial Pharmaceutical Drug Discovery/Pre-Clinical and/or Early-Phase Development project management experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech/contract research industry.
  • Successful track record of delivering complex drug development projects within agreed time, cost, and quality โ€šร„รฌ including ability to develop, maintain, and report upon detailed/high quality integrated project plans within enterprise management systems (e.g. Planisware) including critical path timelines/milestones, external budgets, internal resource forecasts, and risk assessments.
  • Ability to lead, integrate, influence, motivate, and inspire high performing cross functional matrix teams; create shared purpose, coach toward issue resolution and decision making, manage through conflict, and establish a culture of trust.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex information clearly (written/verbal/presentation); experience with stakeholder management and developing executive level scientific/business case briefing presentations for governance decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating and documenting effective project team meetings.
  • Highly driven and innovative, with ability to prioritize, organize, and execute multiple activities in tandem.

Additional Requirements

  • Preferred: Infectious disease focus (e.g., HIV) and experience within HIV/Global Health franchises
  • Preferred: Advanced degree (scientific or MBA) and/or PMP certification
