Role Overview
Associate Director, Operational Excellence builds and sustains the information infrastructure, AI-powered tools, and process visualization systems that make value stream performance continuously visible.
Primary Responsibilities
- Partner with CMC and SMEs to map end-to-end value stream flows into clear, accurate process visualizations.
- Build and maintain interactive process hierarchy tools showing work status, stage cycle times, handoffs, and capacity constraints.
- Create leadership-ready lifecycle/flow visualizations for senior audiences.
- Use AI to deploy solutions enabling prioritization, clarity, and standard work across value streams (discovery through GMP manufacturing and launch).
- Design/deploy real-time dashboards for senior leaders (trends) and functional teams (drill-down).
- Build AI-connected tools to surface value stream KPIs automatically and reduce manual data assembly.
- Identify/pilot AI-enabled solutions to reduce friction in capturing/structuring operational data.
- Provide OpEx leadership support, coaching, knowledge management/standard work, and senior read-outs; conduct observation of work to ensure visualizations reflect reality; support OpEx maturity journey.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, data science, information systems, life sciences, or equivalent.
- 5+ years designing process visualizations, business process hierarchies, or end-to-end flow maps in cross-functional settings.
- Change leadership using OpEx/standards and Lean Six Sigma; SME-focused development of technically accurate content.
- Proficiency with data visualization/dashboard tools for senior non-technical audiences.
Additional/Preferred Skills
- AI/automation/ML experience to reduce manual entry and surface real-time performance.
- BPH design and cross-functional flow structuring (pharma/biotech/regulatory preferred).
- Daily management systems/tiered review structures experience.
- Works with SMEs in lab/GMP; strong communication and stakeholder influence.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt+ (or equivalent) and structured problem-solving (root cause analysis, A3, DMAIC).
Compensation/Benefits (as stated)
- Anticipated wage: $115,500–$169,400; eligible for company bonus and comprehensive benefits (e.g., 401(k), medical/dental/vision, flexible benefits, life insurance, time off, well-being).
