Role Summary

The Associate Director, Oncology Competitive Intelligence (CI) leads all aspects of a comprehensive CI program within BMS' oncology portfolio, delivering timely, relevant and strategic insights to stakeholders. This role manages external CI vendors/partners and leverages internal tools, reporting to the Senior Director, Oncology CI. It sits within the Applied Intelligence and Analytics team, partnering across Enterprise, Commercial, Development, and Global Product Supply to transform patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • The Associate Director will execute the comprehensive CI strategic plan for solid tumors and/or hematological malignancies, aligning with stakeholder priorities and strategic imperatives. Lead and manage all CI activities within budget with high autonomy. Expand CI reach, embed CI as an internal consulting partner, and identify opportunities to innovate or streamline CI processes and workstreams.
  • Assess the competitive environment and emerging scientific data to inform clinical, regulatory, access and commercial strategies for the oncology portfolio.
  • Conduct analyses and research based on Key Intelligence Topics/Questions; synthesize insights to provide actionable recommendations to stakeholders across functions and levels.
  • Build relationships and influence senior management to advance insight-enabled decision making.
  • Implement all elements of the internal CI model: manage external vendors/partners, internal intelligence networks, and leverage internal IT tools and platforms.
  • Maintain forensics capability (asymmetric intelligence) via extrapolation, triangulation and internal expert validation.
  • Execute projects within budget and timeline, making tradeoffs as necessary.
  • Ensure dissemination of competitive intelligence to enable strategic decision making.
  • Demonstrate and uphold high standards of business integrity.
  • Respond to ad hoc business questions with expert analysis and timely delivery.
  • Key internal clients: Commercial, Clinical Development, Medical.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS required; MBA/PharmD/PhD preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of competitive intelligence (primary and secondary research) or relevant experience.
  • Experience designing and facilitating competitive simulation workshops.
  • Experience in solid tumors and/or hematology.
  • Ability to quickly and independently build proficiency in new categories or therapeutic areas.
  • Solid business understanding of pharmaceutical drug development and commercialization pathways.
  • Strategic thinking with ability to synthesize and analyze across data sources and develop actionable recommendations; strong oral/written communication.
  • Initiative, curiosity, creativity, strategic thinking; ability to work in dynamic environments.
  • Proven project leadership with time/resource management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate across geographies and roles and build consensus.
  • Experience supporting decision-making in a complex corporate environment.
  • Familiarity with CI data sources (e.g., Cortellis, clinical trial databases) is desirable.
