Role Summary

The Associate Director, Medical Value & Outcomes (Mid-Atlantic) serves as the medical scientific lead for population-based healthcare decision makers, facilitating scientific exchange on disease state management and the value of Sanofi Genzyme products. The role represents the MS and Immunology franchises, serving as the MVO lead for assigned strategic regional accounts, and collaborates cross-functionally to develop field strategies, tactics, and training to support safe and appropriate use of therapies.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as medical scientific lead for assigned healthcare accounts and organizations.
  • Identify, develop and maintain credible scientific partnerships with key medical, pharmacy, quality & health economics/outcomes/analytics decision-makers and opinion leaders within assigned accounts.
  • Lead development and execution of customized medical account plans aligned with Sanofi-Genzyme medical strategies and guidelines.
  • Facilitate scientific exchange, education and provides access to medical, health policy, and health economic information tailored to the evidence needs of decision-makers in a compliant manner.
  • Collect and share customer insights and evidence gaps to inform portfolio development and engagement; assist in strategy insights development.
  • Develop key medical contacts related to clinical, evidence-based disease management/health outcome initiatives; mentor MVO team members.
  • Identify contacts with medical, payer, and advocacy associations at national/regional/local levels.
  • Support scientific advisory boards and symposia; participate in conferences; provide input and lead where appropriate.
  • Work cross-functionally with USMA and field teams to coordinate engagement of medical/scientific needs and align with resources.
  • Provide input to field tools, resources, materials, and training; lead development and delivery including budget management.
  • Participate in internal cross-functional teams to provide input on evidence needs, educational opportunities, and resources; participate in publication plans and strategy planning.
  • Serve as mentor/preceptor for fellows and students; Associate Directors may mentor other MVOs.
  • Approximately 30% travel.

Qualifications

  • Education: Advanced degree required; Doctoral degree (MD, PharmD, or PhD) strongly preferred; MBA or additional degree in health economics, health outcomes, public health or health policy is a plus.
  • Managed care experience (e.g., medical/clinical executive within a managed care organization or similar pharma industry experience).
  • Clinical and/or pharmaceutical industry experience in specialty therapeutic fields strongly preferred (e.g., MS, Immunology, Dermatology, Asthma, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Oncology).
  • 3+ years of pharmaceutical industry, managed care experience, or similar organizational experience required.

Skills

  • Understanding and knowledge of the US healthcare system, healthcare delivery, and biotech drug/devise development process.
  • Knowledge of HEOR disciplines; basic understanding of biostatistics and evidence-based medicine (research methodology, clinical protocols, clinical reports).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment, independently and collaboratively.
  • Customer service mindset with the ability to gain insights and identify customer needs and opportunities.
  • Strategic thinking and business acumen.
  • Ability to effectively communicate medical, scientific, health economic, and business information to internal and external stakeholders.

Education

  • Advanced degree required; Doctoral degree - MD, PharmD, or PhD (clinical) strongly preferred; MBA or additional degree in health economics, health outcomes, public health or health policy is a plus.
