Role Summary
Associate Director, Medical Science Liaison (MSL) βΓΓ¬ Mid Atlantic GI/Thoracic. The MSL program serves as a field-based group delivering deep scientific knowledge, facilitating scientific exchange, and informing LillyβΓΓ΄s strategic direction in research, development, and commercialization. The role focuses on engaging with Scientific and Clinical Experts (SEs/CEs) to address clinical questions, support evidence generation, and accelerate patient outcomes through collaboration with Lilly Medical and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Scientific & clinical knowledge: Provide leading researchers and practitioners with scientifically and clinically meaningful information; synthesize latest research on products, disease states, and standard of care; maintain high technical expertise within the therapeutic area.
- Full spectrum SE/CE support: Act as primary interface between Lilly Medical and SEs/CEs; support HCPs in sharing evidence and addressing clinical care gaps; connect SEs/CEs with Lilly resources and facilitate collaborative research opportunities; partner with clinical development to support studies and investigators.
- Field Execution, Geo Management and Productivity: Analyze customer data, plan and prioritize engagements; execute a strategic territory plan; use supporting tools to meet performance expectations; coordinate with field colleagues to ensure a cohesive customer experience; utilize territory analytics for identification and routing.
- Strategic vision and leadership: Synthesize and communicate actionable insights to internal teams; exercise good judgment and escalation as needed; build internal networks and collaborate across functions; adapt to changing business needs and leverage innovative resources; contribute to team goals and act as a collaborative teammate; ensure compliant execution of the role.
Qualifications
- Required: Advanced degree in health sciences (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD) or Masters/Bachelors with 5+ years of clinical/research/industry experience in a relevant therapeutic area; must be authorized to work in the United States full-time; valid U.S. driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Preferred: Minimum of two years of relevant clinical or therapeutic area experience if holding an advanced degree; field-based experience; familiarity with health systems, academic communities, medical research, and medical education processes; knowledge of digital platforms enabling HCP engagement; experience in gastrointestinal and/or thoracic oncology (strongly preferred).
- Other: Ability to travel up to 80% (including weekends); residence within the geographic area (Southern New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, D.C., Virginia) or near a transport hub.
