Role Summary
Associate Director, Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for Mid Atlantic GI/Thoracic. The MSL program connects scientific and clinical experts with Lillyโรรดs medical and research teams, facilitating scientific exchange and addressing clinical care questions to inform research, development, and commercialization efforts. This role emphasizes field-based engagement with healthcare professionals, collaboration across functions, and strategic territory management to advance patient outcomes in GI/Thoracic oncology.
Responsibilities
- Provide scientific and clinical knowledge tailored to SEs/CEs, addressing clinical care gaps and nuanced questions with up-to-date information.
- Serve as a primary interface between Lilly Medical and SEs/CEs; connect SEs/CEs with Lilly resources and facilitate collaborative research opportunities.
- Collaborate with clinical development to support studies and investigators, delivering disease state information aligned with site identification, selection, and recruitment.
- Analyze customer data and plan engagements to optimize field activity; implement a strategic territory plan and utilize supporting tools to meet performance expectations.
- Partner with cross-functional teams and other field-based colleagues to create a coordinated customer experience; leverage territory analytics for identification and routing.
- Synthesize and communicate actionable customer/clinical insights to internal teams; demonstrate good judgment and escalate issues as needed.
- Engage in team collaboration, contribute to team goals, and adhere to governing requirements, procedures, and laws.
Qualifications
- Scientific / clinical acumen:
- Advanced degree in health sciences (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD) required; additional TA experience preferred. Required
- Alternative: Masters or bachelor's degree in health sciences (e.g., BSN, RPh, PA, NP) with 5+ years of relevant experience. Required
- Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Lilly does not sponsor work authorization. Required
- Valid U.S. driverโรรดs license and acceptable driving record. Required
- Interpersonal, presentation, planning, and digital skills:
- Ability to convey complex scientific content clearly; strong strategic and critical thinking. Required
- Advanced presentation and computer skills, proficiency in literature identification; able to service customer needs for complex information. Required
- Excellent verbal and written communication; self-directed with ability to manage multiple priorities in the field. Required
- Strong teamwork, emotional intelligence, relationship-building, resilience, and intellectual curiosity. Required
- Proficiency in leveraging field-based tools and adapting to new technology for engagement planning and communication. Required
- Location requirements:
- Must reside in the geography (Southern New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, D.C., Virginia) near a transport hub. Required
- Travel up to 80% of the time, including weekends. Required
- Other information / Preferences:
- Experience in field-based environments; familiarity with health systems, academia, medical research, and education processes preferred.
- Knowledge of digital platforms for virtual engagement (e.g., Zoom) and willingness to use field-based tools.
- Gastrointestinal and/or thoracic oncology TA experience strongly preferred.
