Role Summary

Associate Director, Medical Science Liaison – Respiratory US

Role to engage in external, non-promotional, evidence-based medical activities as part of Viatris Medical Affairs, focusing on respiratory therapeutics in the US. Responsible for developing independent medical education materials, managing KOL/HCP relationships, and delivering compliant medical information in alignment with company strategy and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, execute, monitor, and adapt independent US MSL Stakeholder Engagement Plans for target KOLs/HCPs in alignment with the US Respiratory MSL Team Lead and US Respiratory Medical Lead.
  • Maintain monthly summaries of day-to-day activities and achievements.
  • Provide training to internal Viatris functions on products and disease states using approved materials.
  • Engage in non-promotional, truthful, evidence-based communications with KOLs/HCPs using educational materials approved by the Medical Review Committee.
  • Document HCP interactions in the VEEVA system; respond to Unsolicited Medical Requests (UMRs).
  • Identify and communicate internally unmet medical education needs and competitor activities; share insights to inform strategy.
  • Develop independent, innovative medical education materials with the US Respiratory MPL to address unmet educational needs.
  • Staff independent Medical Affairs booths at congresses/conventions; participate in asset/disease-state level activities as directed.
  • Provide ongoing support and direction for asset/disease-state activities, including travel and congress attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of respiratory experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry. Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) required, or combination of experience and education.
  • Knowledge of US Respiratory MSL roles, clinical trials, therapeutic areas, SOPs, healthcare provider interaction standards, and relevant codes/regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and manage collaborative relationships with KOLs and medical professionals; strong analytical and organizational skills; ability to present clinical data clearly; high personal accountability and performance; comfortable with change; committed to DEI.
  • Position functions semi-autonomously with no direct supervisory responsibilities; reports to US Respiratory MSL Team Lead.
  • Extensive travel required (75‚Äì80%), remote participation possible; territory may change over time; must reside within the territory (Central or Pacific West regions listed).
