Associate Director, Media & Influence

Key Responsibilities
- Execute day-to-day media relations and influence across traditional and emerging platforms (pitches, inbound inquiries, reporter relationships).
- Contribute to enterprise media/influence strategy using audience- and data-first insights to shape perception and business outcomes.
- Create modern media strategies for milestones, product launches, and media events.
- Build and maintain a modern media ecosystem and relationships across creators/influencers and legacy media.
- Develop and pitch proactive stories connecting pipeline, business performance, and initiatives to patient impact.
- Support planning/execution of product announcements and high-stakes media events (media plans/materials, spokesperson prep, follow-up).
- Prepare executives/SMEs (briefing materials, talking points, Q&As) and support strategic placements (interviews, bylines, podcasts, speaking).
- Partner with global communications teams to ensure consistent, audience-relevant storytelling.
- Track coverage, sentiment, share of voice, and message pull-through; use analytics to measure impact.

Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
- 6+ years in communications, media relations, or public relations.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. full-time; Lilly does not sponsor visas.

Additional Preferences
- Experience building media/influence strategy across traditional and emerging platforms.
- Experience in Fortune 500/pharma/healthcare or major newsroom (in-house or agency).
- Strong use of audience data, social listening, and media analytics.
- Ability to translate complex business/scientific topics into compelling narratives.
- Knowledge of pharma/healthcare, regulatory/scientific/policy/patient topics.

Travel/Location
- ~15–20% domestic travel; occasional international.
- Indianapolis, Indiana required.

Compensation/Benefits (high level)
- Anticipated base: $127,500–$187,000; potential company bonus.
