Role Summary

The Associate Director Psychiatry Marketing External Engagement and RMM Team Lead leads the Regional Marketing Manager team, overseeing marketing initiatives across geographic areas and ensuring alignment with national marketing plans. The role requires deep knowledge of market drivers, provider and stakeholder dynamics, and the ability to translate local insights into actionable strategies for brand performance. Responsibilities include building commercial relationships with External Experts, designing promotional strategies, and managing cross-functional programs such as speaker events and external engagement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading the Regional Marketing Manager (RMM) team across specific geographical areas, with strong understanding of market drivers, competitive landscape, and provider dynamics.
  • Translate local area business needs into local strategies and pull-through of the national strategy at the regional level; maximize field resources and support regional speaker programs.
  • Provide in-depth insights from stakeholder feedback; coach and develop the RMM team.
  • Identify, build, and strengthen commercial relationships with External Experts (EEs) and diversify the KOL base.
  • Engage with EEs and attend key medical congresses; coordinate Commercial leadership engagements at conferences.
  • Develop and lead high-impact promotional medical education programs (national broadcasts, regional programs).
  • Lead the speaker program Annual Operating Plan and manage the budget; coordinate cross-functional workstreams with Compliance, Finance, and Sales Leadership and the Promotional Medical Education vendor.
  • Support home-office HCP team with identification/contracting of HCPs for consulting and ad boards; execute ad boards and steering committees; create the Annual Consulting Plan.
  • Contribute to annual strategic and tactical plans for promotional medical education and external engagement.
  • Maintain understanding of disease and competitive marketplace; ensure compliance with AbbVie policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Proven marketing experience with increasing proficiency in marketing skills; cross franchise/cross channel experience preferred.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • At least 7 years of pharmaceutical experience including 2+ years of marketing experience.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to present to internal/external customers, sales teams, and senior management.
    • Leadership experience with direct people leadership.
    • Analytical skills, financial acumen, and budget ownership.
    • Interpersonal skills to lead and drive consensus among diverse stakeholders.
    • Project management skills and ability to prioritize competing needs.
    • Self-starter, curiosity, adaptability; proactive problem solving and creative solutioning.
    • Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations; willingness to travel up to 25%.
