Role Summary

Associate Director of Marketing Excellence – strategic advisor to US OBU brand teams, driving business outcomes for in-line brands and pipeline. Collaborates with US Marketing, Global Marketing, and cross-functional teams to evolve and embed marketing strategies, processes, skills, and capabilities. Reports to the Commercial Excellence Director within the AZ US Oncology Business Excellence Team.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with US Launch Leads, US Brand Leads, and Franchise Heads to address unmet needs and roll out solutions that elevate US OBU marketing capability.
  • Engage as a strategic marketing advisor to US marketing teams, participating in launch planning, brand strategic planning, and asset lifecycle planning.
  • Collaborate with Global Integrated Business Planning and Global Business Transformation teams to localize global marketing frameworks for US OBU needs.
  • Develop and embed processes, best practices, innovative frameworks, expertise, and awareness to elevate US OBU marketing excellence capability.
  • Partner with US OBU Training to design and execute a sustainable marketing learning curriculum and upskill core marketing skills among stakeholders.
  • Work with Business Planning, Legal & Compliance teams to ensure marketing initiatives adhere to US regional governance standards.
  • Identify areas for marketing innovation by collaborating with internal stakeholders to operationalize effective marketing solutions.
  • Serve as a key communication agent, disseminating best practices, tools, learning opportunities, and frameworks to enhance marketing effectiveness across the team.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Required: 5+ years’ experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry
  • Required: 5+ years in-depth experience in commercial, brand marketing, or sales management
  • Required: Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, including market dynamics, regulatory landscape, and healthcare professional engagement
  • Required: Self-motivated with excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams across functions
  • Required: Demonstrated ability to lead and influence with and without authority
  • Required: Highly organized and able to work independently on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Preferred: MBA and/or advanced degree in life-sciences, business, or technical fields
  • Preferred: Oncology and/or Specialty Care business acumen
  • Preferred: Prior strategy or management consulting experience
  • Preferred: Strong process skills and ability to work in a matrixed organization with cross-functional teams
