Role Summary
The Associate Director for LRL Learning and Development Strategic Learning provides strategic direction for Lilly Research Laboratories' learning and development functions, driving organizational capability across the business. This role collaborates with senior leadership, business partners, Lilly suppliers, and other L&D partners to align learning strategy, curriculum architecture, and the learning portfolio. It supports large-scale, cross-functional learning and performance solutions to ensure personnel are qualified, compliant, and continually contributing to the business.
Responsibilities
- Performance Consulting
- Build and leverage relationships with LRL senior leadership and business partners
- Effectively partner with all levels of the business and influence strategic learning solutions
- Ensure budget requirements are included in the business plan, when needed
- Anticipate and resolve complex problems
- Strategy Development and Execution
- Develop and execute comprehensive performance strategies to address short- and long-term large-scale solutions that support business objectives
- Work in partnership with L&D leadership to scope and prioritize strategic and/or special projects
- Learning Solution Analysis and Development
- Conduct needs and target audience analysis to identify learning and performance gaps
- Develop innovative deliverables that provide meaningful and learner-centric solutions, as appropriate
- Apply effective project management to ensure timely delivery of the performance solution
- Effectively utilize technology to support development of learning and performance solutions (e.g., IT tools, video technology, etc.) and ensure they can be integrated with Lilly systems
- Partner with Lilly select supplier and manage procurement activities, as needed
- Budget and Implementation
- Manage budget for large-size projects or programs
- Implementation
- Partner with LRL L&D personnel to ensure effective communications are implemented as part of the overall L&D strategy with business partners
- Evaluation
- Develop appropriate evaluation plans for learning and performance solutions, when appropriate
- Audits/Inspections
- Support audit/inspection readiness
- Support audit/inspection execution
- Coaching and Personal Development
- Establish a network of internal and external learning and business professionals and benchmark as appropriate
Education
- Bachelorβs degree or higher in education, instructional design, performance technology, or related programs.
Qualifications
- Required: 5 years of experience in proactive strategic learning, capability development consultation, performance consulting, instructional design, and program/portfolio management.
- Preferred: MS degree in Instructional Systems Technology, Adult Learning or related experience/education.
- Preferred: Human Performance Improvement (HPI) Certification.
- Preferred: Working knowledge of and/or experience in a regulated environment.
- Preferred: Knowledge of LRL business and structure.
- Preferred: Demonstrated ability in communication, conflict resolution, using good judgment, and managing complexity.
- Preferred: Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a collaborative environment and build trust with internal and external business partners.
- Preferred: Demonstrated ability to scope and lead learning projects.
- Preferred: Demonstrated success in influencing without authority.
- Preferred: Effective problem-solving skills to evaluate and resolve business and organizational problems.
- Preferred: Demonstrated proficiency in digital learning technologies and productivity tools, including Microsoft 365 applications, with growing literacy in AI-enabled tools to enhance learning design, delivery, and efficiency.
