Summary:
Provide leadership and guidance as the lead statistician on a project team. Accountable for all statistical aspects of late phase clinical studies, including observational and investigational study designs and scientific validity. Act as key statistical function representative within the company; may serve as department leader in a technical area.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee statistical support to multiple project teams; collaborate with cross-functional/clinical leads on strategy and protocols; develop project statistical approaches.
- Conduct statistical analyses; develop CSR statistical methods/results sections and overall summaries; review/approve results memos and statistical conclusions; guide teams on data inferences; ensure statistical representation at meetings; deliver compliant datasets and deliverables.
- Define/document derived variables for TLG; ensure consistent, quality-controlled datasets for tables/listings/graphs.
- Plan and track project activities, timelines, and resources; justify needs; optimize utilization/capacity.
- Mentor and develop staff; promote teamwork/quality; manage conflict; ensure SOP/policy compliance.
- Maintain awareness of industry/regulatory standards and departmental SOPs; update procedures within scope as needed.
- Represent the department on division/corporate teams; advocate statistical thinking in decision-making.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May manage 1–3 direct reports.

Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or master’s in Biostatistics (or closely related).
- 5+ years biostatistics experience in pharma/biotech.
- 3+ years managing external relationships (e.g., CRO/consultants/research committees).
- 3+ years SAS and/or R.
- Preferred: experience in medical device and gene therapy.
- Strong leadership, project management, communication, presentation.
- Advanced statistical concepts; in-depth observational study design knowledge (multivariable modeling, longitudinal data analysis, causal inference).
- Ability to work self-directed; independently write SAS and/or R programs.
- Ability to travel ~20% (overnights required).
