Associate Director, International Regulatory Affairs Advertising & Promotion

Responsibilities:
- Review and evaluate the global industry environment (regulatory, legal, political) and plan strategically for regulatory communications; lead implementation of risk management strategies/plans for global Regulatory advertising and promotion.
- Provide global regulatory position/perspective/expertise on advertising and promotion to internal/external partners; maintain knowledge of global codes of practice, regulations, and guidance impacting pharma advertising/promotion; direct international (ex-US) accountability for assigned therapeutic areas.
- Implement department policies/procedures; contribute to development/updates of divisional/corporate policies affecting global core messaging; support quality initiatives, compliance, and improvement plans; enhance/streamline operations.
- Interpret regulatory positions/messaging for high-visibility pharma news with political/financial/legal implications; create an environment to attract/retain/mentor leaders; provide strategic input into training; negotiate/resolve majority of decisions with Marketing, Medical, Legal, Public Affairs, and Compliance.
- Collaborate across divisions/functions; apply novel problem-solving while ensuring regulatory adherence.
- Balance business needs and risk assessments; accountable for advertising/promotion strategies for assigned marketed and development compounds and for representing the global Regulatory Advertising & Promotion position.
- Lead cross-functional/multidisciplinary/therapeutic teams; ensure compliance with relevant international codes and manage financial business goals.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in science required; Master’s/Ph.D/PharmD preferred.
- Associate Director: 8+ years pharmaceutical experience with a Bachelor’s; 5+ years with a PharmD plus relevant ad/promo experience.
- Solid understanding of regulatory advertising and promotion regulations with direct responsibility.
- International experience desired (not required).

Other:
- Hybrid work: 3 days in office from AbbVie Mettawa, IL headquarters.
- Significant work activity: continuous sitting for prolonged periods (>2 consecutive hours in an 8-hr day).
